A Valley Farm
A valley has flat land beside a river. Across the river is a steep rocky mountain. Farmers need land for fields and water for crops. The Lee family farms in the valley. Their tractor drives easily over the flat fields. In dry weeks, they pump river water to their corn. Nobody farms on the mountain, because its slopes are too steep and rocky.
Which two features make the valley useful for farms and a nearby town?
- flat land and river water
- steep slopes and bare rock
- high cliffs and little soil
- rocky peaks and no fields
