Rules at School

1The signal is a picture, not a sound. Point to it.

Read aloud: Some classes hold up a picture instead of ringing a bell, and the class stops when they see it. Point to the part of you that catches it.

2Arrows to the art table. Point to what waits there.

Read aloud: The floor arrows lead the class to the art table. Point to what is waiting on that table.

3Wet hands after paint. Point to what you use.

Read aloud: You have finished painting and your hands are covered. Point to the thing you use before you touch anything else.

4Blocks in one place, books in another. Point to books.

Read aloud: At tidy-up time the blocks go in the tub and the books go somewhere else. Point to where the books go.

5Lights on the pole tell you to wait. Point to it.

Read aloud: On the walk to the park, a tall pole with colored lights tells everybody when to wait and when to walk. Point to it.

6A fire drill is practice. Point to what puts fires out.

Read aloud: A fire drill is practice for leaving safely. Point to the red thing on the wall that grown-ups use on a small fire.
