About this worksheet

This is a listening worksheet, not a reading one. A grown-up reads each question out loud and the child answers by putting a finger on one of three or four pictures, so a three-year-old who cannot read a single word can still finish the whole page without help. The skill underneath is knowing yourself as one particular person: your name belongs to you, the snack you pack is the one you like, and a job you can do without help is a thing you can do. Preschoolers often copy whoever answered first, because they assume a favorite is something you get right or wrong. Two items here deliberately show two children choosing differently, and both children are correct. Watch whether your child answers from the picture in front of them or from what they wish were true, and let a changed favorite stand. After each item, ask for one spoken sentence about themselves. That sentence, not the score, is the point of the page.
