About this worksheet

Revision means making a sentence clearer and more correct for a reader. First graders often treat checking as a quick search for a period, so they overlook a missing action, a crowded word space, an incorrect verb ending, or a lowercase name. This worksheet turns editing into a sequence of decisions. Children identify the kind of problem, compare partial fixes, choose a complete revision, and explain which check should happen next. Support drafts contain one or two visible boundary errors. Standard and challenge drafts combine conventions with meaning, so a sentence may need both a capital and a missing word. Encourage your child to read the draft once for the message and a second time for conventions. During the first reading, ask whether the thought is complete. During the second, check capitals, spaces, word forms, and punctuation. Separating those passes prevents the child from fixing a surface mark while leaving the sentence itself unclear.
