Two-digit addition in first grade is built from place value, not a memorized column algorithm. Children add tens to tens and ones to ones, then combine the parts. The standard expects sums within 100 and includes adding a two-digit number with a one-digit number or a multiple of ten. This worksheet keeps regrouping light and explicit so the child sees why a new ten may be formed. Some questions use base-ten blocks; others ask for the decomposed equation or the final sum. Support pages avoid composing a new ten. Standard and challenge pages include ones totals that cross ten, but still stay within first grade expectations. Ask children to say the tens total and the ones total before combining them.
