Retelling means holding onto the important events of a story and giving them back in an order that makes sense. Kindergarten children may remember the funniest or most colorful moment but skip the beginning, repeat an event, or reverse cause and result. This worksheet uses very short three-step stories with concrete actions. The sequence cards keep the full story visible while each question asks about first, next, or last. Support work shows only the first two steps and asks about the obvious opening or ending. Standard work uses all three. Challenge questions also ask which event belongs between two others, but they never require a long written response. Read the cards aloud from left to right before your child answers. If the order is confusing, act out the actions with hands or small objects. Listen for the time words first, next, and last rather than expecting a polished oral summary.
