About this worksheet

This page turns body-part words into something a preschooler can act out. Each question shows a familiar object and asks which part of the body does the job: the part a sock goes on, the part that holds a crayon, the part that bites an apple, the part that bends halfway up an arm. Your child answers by pointing to a picture, so nothing has to be read. After every answer, ask them to find the same part on their own body and move it, because a body-part word is learned through the body and not through the page. Children often use one word for a whole area, calling the entire lower limb a foot or the whole arm a hand. The stretch level is built around exactly that: it puts the part and its neighbor side by side and asks for the smaller one, so the child has to notice where one part ends and the next begins.

What your child will learn

  • Point to the body part that does a familiar job
  • Match clothing and tools to the part of the body they belong to
  • Tell a part from its neighbor, such as a hand from an elbow
  • Name and move the same part on your own body

Worked example

The page shows two socks. You ask where a sock goes. It goes on the part at the end of the leg, so your child points to the foot and then puts a hand on their own foot.

Common mistake

Choosing the whole limb, such as pointing to the leg when the question is about the part a sock covers.

Helpful hint

Act the job out first, then look at your own body and see which part moved.
