A child's own name is usually the first word they want to write, and it is worth the effort because it carries so much at once: the letters in a fixed order, one capital at the front, smaller letters after it, and a hand that has to keep traveling right without crowding or running out of paper. Early attempts show what a child is noticing. All capitals means they have learned capitals first. Letters in the wrong order means the shapes arrived before the sequence did. Starting at the right edge usually means nobody has shown them where to begin. None of that is a mistake to correct sharply. This page traces a sample name letter by letter, then hands the last line to an adult, who writes the child's real name at the top so it can be copied underneath — a personal name is the one thing a printed worksheet cannot supply.
