About this worksheet

Narrative order is more than putting cards in a line. A third grader has to notice cause, time, and story logic: the kite must tear before it can be patched, and the missing recipe must be found before cookies can bake. Children who can retell a favorite story aloud may still write events in a confusing order because they know the missing steps in their head. This worksheet makes those steps visible. Each item asks for the beginning, next event, ending, or complete order of a short narrative. The sequence-card visuals are built from the same events the child is arranging, so the picture supports the task without adding unrelated decoration. Difficulty increases through longer event sentences and more subtle causes.
