About this worksheet

Capital letters tell a reader where a sentence begins and which words are names. A third grader should capitalize the first word of a sentence, the word I, and the names of people, pets, places, days, months and holidays, and each important word in a name of more than one word, such as Lake Michigan or Memorial Day. On this worksheet each sentence is written in small letters, and your child rewrites it on the lines with every capital letter in place.

Building Confidence uses names, days and months, On Level adds streets, rivers and titles such as Mr. and Dr. , and Challenge Me adds quotations and longer names. Ask your child to point at each word in the sentence and say whether it names one exact person or place.
