English sentences use word order to show who is doing an action and what is happening. Kindergarten children usually speak in the expected order, yet mixed-up printed words can be surprisingly hard to reorganize. They may start with the action because it is the most interesting word, or keep the order in which the cards were shown. This worksheet asks children to choose among short arrangements rather than copy a long sentence. Every correct answer begins with a person, animal, or object and follows with an action, sometimes adding one small detail. Read each option exactly as printed. The correct sentence should sound like something a person would naturally say. Challenge items include four or five words, but they still use familiar vocabulary and one clear idea. Moving real word cards or tapping each word while speaking can help a child hold the entire sentence in mind before making a choice.
