Grade 2 Math Worksheet

Circle the correct name for each solid shape.

Flat shapes are drawn on paper, but solid shapes take up space: you can hold them, roll them or stack them. A cube has six flat square faces, a sphere is round like a ball, a cone has a flat circle at one end and a point at the other, and a cylinder has two flat circles joined by a curved side. This worksheet shows five solid shapes, one in each cell, with three names beside each, and your child circles the right name.
Everyday objects help: a die is a cube, a basketball a sphere, a party hat a cone, a can a cylinder, a cereal box a rectangular prism. Ask your child to say whether the shape can roll, whether it has flat faces, and how many faces it has.
