To round a number to the nearest thousand, look at the digit just to the right of the thousands place: 5 or more rounds up and 4 or less stays, and every digit after the thousands place becomes a zero. On this fifth grade sheet a child rounds eighteen large numbers to the nearest thousand, writing each answer on the line after the arrow.
Some numbers sit right on the line, such as ones that end in 5, because those test the rule. Each version has different numbers, and the answer key gives each rounded number.
