Kindergarten Math Worksheet

Circle the name of the coin.

Before children can count money, they have to tell the coins apart by name. The four coins in everyday use are the penny, the nickel, the dime and the quarter. They differ in color, size and the edge, and the dime is the smallest coin, even though it is worth more than the penny and the nickel. On this page every item shows one or two of the same coin, and the child circles the name of that coin from a row of words.
Support sheets offer three names to choose from, and standard and challenge sheets offer all four. No values are printed on the coins, so children learn to know them by sight, and values come in later grades. Keep a small bag of real coins at home. Let your child sort them into piles, name each pile, and feel the difference in size and edge.
Common Core standard: K.MD.A.1
The coin is small and silver, the smallest coin of all. It is a dime, so circle dime.
