Kindergarten Math Worksheet

Circle the bigger number.

Once a child can compare two groups of objects, the next step is to compare the numbers themselves without any pictures. The bigger number is the one that comes later when we count, and the smaller number comes earlier. Each item on this page shows two numbers side by side and nothing else, and the child circles one of them. A whole sheet asks for the bigger number or for the smaller number, never both, and the version decides which: odd versions are bigger, even versions are smaller.
Eight quick pairs make a fast, friendly page. Support sheets use numbers up to 8, standard sheets use numbers up to 10, and challenge sheets use numbers up to 20 where the two numbers are close together. If two numbers are hard to tell apart, count up from zero to each one and see which is reached first.
Common Core standard: K.CC.C.7
The numbers are 4 and 7. When we count, 7 comes after 4, so 7 is bigger. Circle 7.
Choosing the number that looks bigger on the page, such as one in a wider shape, instead of the number that counts more.
Count up from zero. The number you reach first is the smaller one.
