Telling a circle from a square is one skill; finding every circle in a busy row is another, and it is the one a child uses when she looks for a round plate on a crowded table or a square window in a picture. This page gives the child one shape to look for and one crayon to use, and asks the same thing in every row: find the shape named at the top of the page and color each one, leaving the others white. The rows are short and the shapes are big, so a finger can touch each shape in turn before the crayon moves.
Wrong picks are almost always the same two mix-ups: coloring a shape that is the right size but the wrong kind, or skipping one at the end of the row. Ask the child to say the name of every shape she touches, and to count how many she colored when the row is done. Each new sheet asks for a different shape, so the page can be reused as the shape names are learned.
