About this worksheet

Comparing two texts helps first graders see that more than one source can teach about the same topic. The work begins simply: what detail appears in both texts, what detail appears in only one, and what can we learn by reading both? Children may answer from the first text only because holding two short passages in mind is demanding. This worksheet labels Text A and Text B clearly and asks students to identify same and different information. Support pages use two-sentence texts about familiar topics. Standard and challenge pages add slightly richer details, but every answer remains directly supported. Ask children to point to Text A with one finger and Text B with another, then say whether the detail is in one text or both.
