Kindergarten Reading Worksheet

Draw a line from each number to its word.

A number can be written two ways: as a numeral, such as 4, and as a word, such as four. Children see both on clocks, in books and on birthday cards, so reading number words is a real reading skill as well as a math skill. On this page the numerals stand in order down the left side, and the number words stand on the right in a different order. The child draws a line from each numeral to its word.
Number words are tricky because they do not sound out the way a beginner expects: one, two and eight break the usual rules, so they are best learned by sight. Each sheet uses a different mix of numbers from zero to ten. Support sheets have four numbers, standard sheets five, and challenge sheets six. Read each word aloud and count on fingers to check.

The numeral 3 is on the left. Read the words on the right: one, five, three. Three is the word for 3, so draw a line from 3 to three.
Matching by the first letter only, so six and seven or two and three are mixed up.
Count on your fingers to the numeral, then read the words.
