Grade 1 Science Worksheet

Circle the place where the animal lives.

A habitat is the place where a plant or animal lives and finds what it needs, such as food, water and shelter. A whale lives in the ocean, a frog lives near a pond, and a cow lives on a farm. Matching an animal to its habitat helps children see that living things are suited to where they live.
On this grade 1 worksheet each box shows one animal, and your child circles the habitat where it lives from three choices: ocean, forest, pond, farm, grassland or jungle. The wrong choices are places the animal could not live. Ask your child what the animal eats and where it finds it.

The picture is a whale. A whale needs deep water, so it lives in the ocean. Circle ocean.
Choosing the habitat because it sounds like the animal's name, not because of what the animal needs.
