Young children can help the environment through small actions whose results they can see: putting litter in a bin, keeping trash out of water, protecting plants, reusing paper, and turning off a running tap. Broad messages such as ‘save the planet’ are difficult for a kindergartner to apply, so this worksheet places each decision on a simple community map. Children locate the park, pond, forest, school, home, or garden and choose an action that improves that particular place. They also connect the action with a direct result, such as cleaner water or less waste. Support pages use one familiar setting and obvious alternatives. Challenge pages contain more map features and require matching the solution to a specific environmental effect. Avoid implying that children are responsible for solving large problems alone. The goal is to communicate and practise reasonable choices while understanding why they help. Ask your child to name one adult or group who can help with the same action in the real community.
