Kindergarten Science Worksheet

Circle the healthy food.

Living things need food to grow, and some foods help a growing body more than others. Fruits and vegetables give children vitamins, water and fiber, while cakes, cookies and ice cream are treats to enjoy now and then. Kindergarten children already know most of these foods by sight, so this worksheet asks one simple question again and again: which of these three foods is the healthy one? Every item shows three pictures in a row and the child circles one.
Nothing is printed under the pictures, so the child names each food aloud, which also builds vocabulary. Talk about why: apples and carrots help us grow strong, and treats are tasty but should not fill the whole plate. Ask your child to name a healthy food they ate today. There is no right to dislike a food here; the aim is to notice which foods help a body grow, not to make a child feel guilty about a treat.
NGSS standard: K-LS1-1
The pictures show a cake, an apple and a cookie. The apple is a fruit that helps a body grow, so circle the apple.
Choosing the food the child likes best instead of the food that helps the body most.
Ask: is this a fruit or a vegetable, or is it a treat?
