Kindergarten Science Worksheet

Circle what a plant needs to grow.

A plant is a living thing, and like every living thing it has needs. A plant needs light from the sun, water to drink and soil to hold its roots, and it also needs air. Children can see this on a windowsill: a plant that is never watered droops, and a plant kept in a dark cupboard turns pale. On this page there are three questions, and each one asks the child to circle what a plant needs to grow.
Every question shows pictures of one thing a plant needs and other things that have nothing to do with plants, such as a ball, a bed or a cake. Support sheets show three pictures, and challenge sheets show four. Talk about it afterwards: what would happen to a plant with no water? Then grow a bean in a cup with your child and watch it each day.
