A space between words is what makes writing easy to read, and first graders often squeeze words together or leave a gap in the middle of a word. On this grade 1 worksheet each line is a sentence with all its words joined together, such as Thedogruns, and your child reads it, then writes it again with a space between each word.
Support sheets use sentences of three or four words, standard sheets use four to six, and challenge sheets use longer sentences. A good trick is to put a finger down after each word and start the next word beside it. Read the finished sentence out loud to check that it makes sense.
Common Core standard: L.1.1.A
Thedogruns. Read it: The dog runs. Write it again with a space after The and a space after dog.
Putting a space inside a word or leaving no space between two short words.
