Fourth graders sometimes think revision means changing everything, adding fancy words, or making a sentence longer. In fact, the clearest revision often names a person, object, or action more precisely, removes repeated wording, or combines two short ideas smoothly. This worksheet gives children sentence-level revision choices that are small enough to judge. They must choose the revision that improves clarity without changing the meaning. Parents should ask what got clearer. The child should be able to name the improvement. If a child points only to a longer sentence, check whether the details are actually more exact. Good revision serves the reader, not the word count.
