Number the cards 1, 2, 3. Write one sentence about what happened.
Telling what happened is the beginning of narrative writing. A kindergartner may remember an exciting ending but omit the event that caused it, or list details in the order they come to mind rather than the order they occurred. Sequence words give the child a simple structure: first, next, and last. This worksheet uses three short event cards so the story can be understood without a long reading demand. Children identify each position, compare compact retells, and then record one event sequence in their own words. Support pages use familiar daily routines; challenge pages use events that require a little more planning or a change of place. Watch for meaning before spelling. If the sequence is confused, ask the child to act out the three events or move a finger from card to card. A successful response does not need elaborate details; it needs events that a reader can follow from beginning to end.
First dig a hole, next put in the seed, and last water it. The order shows how the planting happened.
