About this worksheet

Every sentence does a job: a statement tells something, a question asks something, a command tells someone to do something, and an exclamation shows strong feeling. Each sheet has twelve short sentences, three of each kind, and your child writes S, Q, C or E on the line after each one.

The harder levels include commands and exclamations that do not look like their usual selves, such as Stop right there. and How cold the water is!

What your child will learn

  • Tell statements, questions, commands and exclamations apart
  • Use the end mark and the meaning together
  • Tell a command from a statement without relying on the end mark
