About this worksheet

An action verb shows what someone or something does. A linking verb, such as is, seems or smells, joins the subject to a word that describes it. Each sheet has twelve sentences with one verb each, and your child circles action verb or linking verb.

Building Confidence uses forms of be, and Challenge Me includes verbs like taste and smell that can be either.

What your child will learn

  • Tell an action verb from a linking verb
  • Know forms of be are linking verbs
  • Check whether a sense verb is doing something
