Position words tell how one object is placed in relation to another. In, on, and under are useful first examples because children can demonstrate each with a toy and a box. Even so, learners sometimes confuse in and on when an object touches an edge, or choose under whenever something is low. This worksheet uses clear, familiar situations with no tricky overlap. A spoon is in a cup, a book is on a desk, and shoes are under a bed. The child completes each spoken sentence with the word that matches the relationship. Difficulty increases by adding a few more words around the same location idea, not by introducing new position words. If a question is uncertain, recreate it with two nearby objects and let your child move one object to each possible place. The physical action makes the meaning memorable and keeps the grammar connected to the real world rather than to an abstract label.
