Grade 1 Math Worksheet

Circle the name of the coin.

Before children can count money they have to tell the coins apart, and the coins are told apart by size, colour and the picture on them, not by the number, which is hard to see. On this grade 1 worksheet each line shows one real-looking coin, and your child circles its name: penny, nickel, dime or quarter.
Each of the four coins comes up once on a sheet, in a different order on every version. The dime is the smallest coin even though it is worth more than a nickel, which surprises many children, so spend a moment on that. Having real coins in front of you while you work makes the sheet much more fun.
Common Core standard: 2.MD.C.8
The coin is small, silver and thin. It is the smallest coin. It is a dime. Circle dime.
Thinking the biggest coin is worth the most, or calling the dime a nickel because it is silver.
Think about size and colour: the penny is copper, the dime is the smallest and silver.
