About this worksheet

Once the tables up to 10 are secure, the 11s and 12s are the next step, and they show up in measurement, in time and in multiplying larger numbers. On this worksheet your child writes the product of fifteen bare facts, each with the 11 or the 12 first or second, and no fact appears twice. Building Confidence uses partners from 1 to 10, On Level uses 2 to 12, and Challenge Me uses the harder partners from 4 to 12.

A pattern helps with the 11s: a single digit times 11 repeats the digit, so 11 times 4 is 44, and 11 times 12 is the one to learn. For the 12s, children can double the 6s or add a ten and two more groups. Encourage your child to answer from memory and to skip-count only to check.

What your child will learn

  • Recall the 11s and 12s multiplication facts
  • Use patterns to check a product
  • Write the product with either factor first

Common Core standard: 3.OA.C.7, 4.NBT.B.5

Worked example

11 x 4 = 44: one digit times 11 repeats the digit. 12 x 4 is double 6 x 4, which is 48.

Common mistake

Counting up one group at a time instead of using a pattern or a fact that is already known.

Helpful hint

For the 12s, double the 6s. For the 11s, look for the repeating digits.
