Kindergarten Math Worksheet

Circle the real thing with the same shape.

Solid shapes are all around us: a ball is a sphere, a block is a cube, a can is a cylinder, and a scoop of ice cream sits on a cone. Matching a solid shape to a real object is how children learn that geometry is not only drawn in a book. On this page every item shows one solid shape at the top, and three pictures of real things under it. The child circles the real thing that has the same shape.
The wrong choices are always things with a different shape, so there is only one right answer. Support, standard and challenge sheets use the same four shapes but different mixtures of objects. Let your child hold a ball, a block and a can, roll them and stack them, and say which ones roll and which ones stack. That is the best way to remember the names.
Common Core standard: K.G.A.2
The shape on top is a sphere, which is round like a ball. Circle the ball, not the block or the can.
Matching by color or by size, not by shape.
Think about how the shape feels in your hand. Which object has the same shape?
