Directions tell how to do something one step at a time, and doing the steps in the wrong order spoils the result: bread cannot be cut in half before the slices are put together. On this worksheet each task has four steps printed in mixed order, and your child writes 1, 2, 3, 4 in the circles to put them in order. Building Confidence uses steps that start with First, Next, Then and Last; On Level and Challenge Me take the cue words away, so the child has to think about what must happen before what.
Each sheet has three tasks, and each version has its own. Ask your child to read the steps aloud, find the step that must come first, and then ask what comes next.
Common Core standard: RI.3.3
