We learn about the world with five senses: sight with our eyes, hearing with our ears, smell with our nose, taste with our mouth and touch with our hands and skin. On this grade 1 worksheet each item shows one thing, such as a flower, a drum or a snowflake, and your child circles the body part for the sense the question names: see, hear, smell, taste or touch.
Naming the sense gives each item one right answer, because you hear a cow and smell a flower. Support sheets use things that clearly belong to one sense, and the standard and challenge sheets use more of them, so every sense comes up several times. Talk about each choice together: 'I smell it with my nose.

The question says hear and the picture is a drum. You hear with your ears, so circle the ear.
Circling the eye for everything because we look at most things.
Ask: how do I mostly find out about this? Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting or touching?
