Living things change as they grow, and many go through stages that repeat in the same order: a butterfly starts as an egg, becomes a caterpillar, rests in a shell and comes out as a butterfly. Putting the stages in order helps children see that growing up follows a pattern. On this grade 1 worksheet each question gives four sentences about one plant or animal, printed in a mixed-up order, and your child numbers them 1, 2, 3 and 4.
The life cycles are a butterfly, a frog, a plant, a chicken, a sunflower and a bean. Ask your child to tell the story of how it grows, using first, next, then and last.
NGSS standard: 1-LS3-1
