About this worksheet

Day and night is the first repeating pattern a child ever notices, and this page shows it as a row of pictures rather than as a ring of printed words. Sun, moon, sun, moon: one picture in the row is missing and your child points to the one that belongs there. The other questions ask what shares the sky with what. If you can see stars out of your window, is the sun or the moon up there too? If the stars are fading, what is coming up? Two questions connect the sky with what people do underneath it, going to bed under a dark sky and flying a kite under a bright one. Nothing needs to be read. Finish the page and then check the real sky, because the point of a pattern is that it keeps happening: whatever is up there now, the other one comes next.
