Children learn about weather by living in it, and getting dressed for it is the first place they have to think about it. This page asks one question four times: what do you need when it rains, when it snows, when it is sunny and when it is cold? Each box shows three pictures, such as an umbrella, a pair of sunglasses and a mitten, and only one fits the weather.
Say the weather out loud before you choose, and ask what the child feels in that weather: wet, cold, hot, bright. Then look out of the window together and decide what to put on. Retired weather pages asked children to read a graph of the weather; this one keeps it simple. Four boxes are enough for a small child.

The box says it rains. The pictures are sunglasses, an umbrella and a mitten. An umbrella keeps the rain off, so circle the umbrella.
