Grade 1 Math Worksheet

Count the coins. Write the total in cents.

A dime is worth 10 cents and a penny is worth 1 cent, so counting a pile of dimes and pennies means counting by tens and then by ones, the same skill as counting tens and ones in place value. On this grade 1 worksheet each line shows a row of dimes and pennies, biggest coin first, and your child writes the total in cents on the line.
Support sheets use up to 3 of each coin, standard sheets up to 5 and challenge sheets up to 7. Say the count out loud as you touch each coin: 10, 20, 30, then 31, 32.
Common Core standard: 2.MD.C.8
There are 2 dimes and 3 pennies. Count the dimes by tens: 10, 20. Then count on the pennies: 21, 22, 23. Write 23.
