About this worksheet

A money word problem tells a story about coins and asks how many cents there are. The child works out what each coin is worth, then counts or adds. On this grade 1 worksheet each story is a sentence or two with a number of coins, such as 2 dimes and 3 pennies, and your child writes the total in cents on the line.

Support sheets use dimes and pennies, standard sheets add nickels and challenge sheets add quarters. Jot a quick picture of the coins, then count by tens, fives or ones. Real coins on the table are the best tool.
