Kindergarten Math Worksheet

Start at the top. Draw a line from each fish to the word that tells its place.

Cardinal numbers tell how many, and ordinal numbers tell which one: first, second, third. Children hear them every day when they line up for lunch, take turns on the swing or finish a race, but reading them is a new step. On this page pictures stand in a line down the left side, and the child starts at the top and draws a line from each picture to the word that tells its place.
Odd versions use the words first, second and third. Even versions use the short forms 1st, 2nd and 3rd, which look different because the ending changes. Support sheets stop at fourth, standard sheets go to fifth, and challenge sheets go to sixth. Walk the child down the line with a finger, saying first, second, third, and then let them draw the lines.
