About this worksheet

The calendar is one of the first long sequences a child learns: seven days in a week, and twelve months in a year. Singing the days is easy, but picking out the day after Tuesday without starting from Sunday is harder, and it is the skill that lets a child tell tomorrow from yesterday. On this page every item shows two days, or two months, in order, and a row of three choices, and the child circles the one that comes next.

A sheet asks about days only or about months only, never both: odd versions use the days of the week and even versions use the months of the year. Say the whole row aloud with your child, and then use a real calendar: point to today, count the days to the weekend, and find a birthday. The names are long words, so reading them is practice as well.

What your child will learn

  • Say the months of the year in order
