Kindergarten Math Worksheet

How many blocks long is each bar? Write the number.

Before children use a ruler, they measure with things they can hold: cubes, paper clips, their own hand. The idea is that length is a number of equal units laid end to end with no gaps and no overlaps. On this page every item shows a bar with a row of same-size blocks laid under it, lined up at the left edge, and the child writes how many blocks long the bar is.
Support sheets use bars of two to eight blocks. Standard sheets go to ten, and challenge sheets use the longer bars from four to ten. Ask your child to touch each block once as they count, starting at the left end of the bar. Then use real objects at home: how many cubes long is a spoon? How many shoes long is the hallway? The unit matters more than the answer.
