Grade 1 Social Studies Worksheet

Circle the helper who works here.

Community helpers are the people who do jobs that keep a town safe, healthy and running: doctors, nurses, vets, teachers, librarians, firefighters, bakers, farmers and chefs. On this grade 1 worksheet each item shows a place or a thing from a helper's day, such as a library book, a stop sign or a loaf of bread, and your child circles the helper who works there.
Each item has four helpers to choose from, and helpers that look alike are never in the same row, so the child has to think about the job, not the picture. Talk about what each helper does and who in your own town does that job.
C3 Framework standard: D2.Civ.1.K-2
The picture is a book. A librarian takes care of books, so circle the librarian.
Choosing a helper because they look friendly, not because of the job they do at that place.
Ask: who works here, or who uses this to do a job?
