About this worksheet

Biographies tell the true stories of people who changed their communities and their country. Third graders learn about leaders, inventors, explorers and people who stood up for fairness. On this worksheet your child reads a clue about a famous person, such as the woman who would not give up her seat on a bus or the first person to walk on the Moon, and writes that person's name from the word bank at the top.

Each version has its own ten names, and every name is used once. Building Confidence, On Level and Challenge Me use different clues for the same names, from a famous fact to a more detailed one. Read a picture-book biography together and ask your child to say one thing the person did and why it mattered.

What your child will learn

  • Say what a person did and when
  • Explain why a person is remembered
