About this worksheet

A friendly letter is written to someone you know, and it has a set of parts: a greeting that begins with Dear and the person's name, a body that tells your news in complete sentences, a closing such as Love or Your friend, and your name. On this worksheet your child gets one prompt and a space for each part, so the work is to say something worth sharing and to put each part in its place.

Building Confidence asks for a greeting, two sentences and a closing, On Level asks for three or four sentences, and Challenge Me asks for at least five sentences and a signature. Each of the six versions has its own reader: a grandparent, a faraway friend, a pen pal, a teacher, a cousin, a neighbor. The answer key shows a model letter, and any letter with all the parts is correct.
