Grade 1 Math Worksheet

Circle the heavier one.

Weight is something children feel before they can measure it: a rock is heavier than a leaf, and a feather is lighter than a bus. On this grade 1 worksheet each line shows two pictures and your child circles the one that is heavier or the one that is lighter. The odd-numbered versions of the sheet ask for the heavier one and the even-numbered versions ask for the lighter one, so each sheet has one question from top to bottom and six versions cover both.
The pairs go from very different, such as an elephant and a mouse, to everyday things such as a chair and a crayon. Talk about how it feels to lift each one.
Common Core standard: K.MD.A.2
The pictures are a bus and a feather. A bus is much heavier than a feather. For heavier, circle the bus.
Choosing the bigger picture because it is drawn bigger, not because the thing is heavier.
Think about lifting each one. Which would be harder to pick up?
