Grade 1 Math Worksheet

Circle the one that holds more.

Capacity is how much a container can hold. Before first graders measure it with cups and liters they compare it by eye and by feel: a bowl holds more than a spoon, and a mug holds less than a basket. On this grade 1 worksheet each line shows two containers and your child circles the picture that holds more or the one that holds less.
Odd-numbered versions ask for the one that holds more and even-numbered versions ask for the one that holds less, so each sheet has one question from top to bottom. The pairs are clear, such as a jar and a cup. Fill a cup and pour it into a bowl at home to see how many cups fill it.
Common Core standard: K.MD.A.2
The pictures are a bowl and a cup. You could pour many cups of water into a bowl, so the bowl holds more. For holds more, circle the bowl.
