Kindergarten Math Worksheet

Count by ones. Write the missing number.

Counting to 100 is a big goal for kindergarten, and the hard part is the bridges between decades, where twenty-nine becomes thirty and sixty-nine becomes seventy. Children who have counted to 20 many times can often stall at these changes, because the pattern of the number names changes. On this page every item is a short row of number cards counting up by ones, such as 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, with one card left empty, and the child writes the missing number straight into the card.
The empty card can be anywhere in the row, so the child cannot always rely on counting forward from the first card. Support sheets stay within 30, standard sheets reach 60 and challenge sheets reach 100. Say the row out loud, then check by saying it again with the missing number put in.
Common Core standard: K.CC.A.1
The cards show 48, 49, an empty card, 51, 52. After 49 comes 50, so write 50.
Going from 49 to 40 instead of 50, because the tens digit does not change.
Say the numbers out loud, and listen for the one that is missing.
