About this worksheet

Homophones are words that sound the same but are spelled differently and mean different things: to, too and two; see and sea; hear and here. They are a classic source of spelling mistakes, because a child who writes by sound cannot tell them apart, and the only way is to think about the meaning. On this grade 1 worksheet each line is a sentence with a blank, followed by the homophones that sound alike, and your child circles the one that fits.

Six of the eight lines on every sheet use to, too and two; the other two use a different pair, such as see and sea on support sheets and write and right on later ones. Read each choice in the sentence and ask which one makes sense.
