About this worksheet

A natural resource is something from nature that people use. Trees, water, sand, wind, sunlight, oil, soil and animals are all natural resources. People turn them into the things they need every day. Trees become paper and the boards that build houses. Sand becomes glass. Sheep give wool for warm clothes, cows give milk, and bees give honey. Wind and sunlight can be turned into electricity, and oil is made into gasoline for cars.

Some resources, such as wind and sunlight, never run out, but others, such as oil, can be used up, which is why people try to use them carefully. This worksheet gives eight resources, and the child circles what people get or make from each one. Ask your child to name a thing in the room and say which natural resource it came from.
