Water on Earth moves in a cycle that never stops. The Sun warms water in oceans, lakes and puddles, and the water evaporates, which means it turns into a gas called water vapor that rises into the air. High up, where it is cooler, the vapor condenses, which means it turns back into tiny drops that gather in clouds. When the drops get heavy they fall as rain, or as snow if it is very cold, which is called precipitation.
The water runs into streams and lakes and the cycle begins again. This worksheet gives three examples of the cycle. For each one, four steps are printed in mixed order, and the child writes 1 to 4 next to them to show the order they happen. Ask your child to follow the water from the Sun to the sky and back down.
